A thought I had today...

A standard of living.
What does that mean?
Ideally, we produce, then we are compensated.
Income.
From this income we establish our standard of living, and consume.

Really, I see a model similar to:
Decide what I want to consume, seek out a standard of living which is out of proportion to my production, and complain because I am not being adequately compensated.

Therefore, I suggest establishing and enacting:
A standard of giving.
This standard is not consumed with consumption, and does not complain about inadequate compensation.
Rather, it propels the possibilities of production and sustains a life worth living, founded on a generous standard of giving.
You've heard it said, "It is in giving that we receive," and I agree; inasmuch that in giving we acknowledge that we have already received. So in our giving we are not searching for our just compensation, looking for our gift to pat us on the back.

Let's increase our standard of giving, acknowledging gratefully what we've been given.

Salton Sea Photographs

This past weekend about 30 of us folks descended upon the Salton Sea. Literally, we descended, because the Sea is about 220 feet below sea level.
Here is a small sampling of photographs from the weekend, courtesy of Evan Trine.

Good News!!!!

I just bought this van!
I know what the Bible says about storing your treasures in heaven, but I just couldn't wait!

Now the only thing left to do is go retrieve it from the impound lot just south of Redding, CA.
Hopefully it runs well enough that we can drive it back down.
And it's diesel. And will one day become bio-diesel (maybe).

Yes!

i like these old nissan pulsar's.
they look awkwardly futuristic.
buy me one.

pinnacle of lameness

Not more than two weeks apart, I have managed to drop my phone, and now my camera, into small bodies of water.
On february 7th, I managed to drop my phone into a urinal as I was concurrently filling said urinal. No, I wasn't talking on the phone as I was pee-ing, I simply wanted to check the time as I was pee-ing. Normal, right?
And then, about 1/2 an hour ago, I dropped my new camera into a bucket of paint water!
Good thing it wasn't a very expensive camera.
I think I need to relax or something.
It's time for me to take my own advice and exercise some global chilling.

sneak preview

Here's a little sample of the things I've been working on lately.
I've got a little show coming up - well, I've got a reception coming up for a show that is already up- yeah.
If you're ever down in the Newport/Balboa Bay area stop on by this awesome restaurant called Bay Burger. It's so good and my recent arts and crafts are hanging on the walls.

Just a little sneak preview. Come on Down on March 1st for a little party. Good food and drinks. I'll be serving beer and ice cream out of my newly "blinged" out ice cream cart.

March 1 - 7pm - 10pm -

Just a typical afternoon getting ready for a bike ride with the fellow brothers of futurism.

Ferngully

I wish I could have got a full aerial shot of this.
There probably is a certain art to chopping down a tree and having all the branches land in circle around the stump.
